Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day. It asks you, ‘Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?' - Peter Maher, Irish-Canadian Olympian

Still here. Still running. Our half is approaching fast - April 27.
This has not been a good week with the running and the timing couldn't be worse - 3 weeks to race date! We had 11 miles scheduled on Saturday - we stopped at 8. My ITB was aggravated by a new pair of shoes. Needless to say, new shoes were purchased on Monday. Yesterday was 1o miles - 5 x 1600 @ 10:11. We got the first 4 intervals done and then I crashed. I couldn't even shuffle the last 2 miles. It was our first warm spring day and was beautiful to run. However, my subsequent post run water intake and output made it very clear I let myself get dehydrated.

On our slow runs, W and I spend a good deal of time talking strategy. How we want to run, pace ourselves, keep from going out too fast. We have not signed up for any of the pace groups but right now, we are leaning towards hanging with the 11:30 group for the first two miles. Our tendancy is to jackrabbit - go out way too fast and then tucker out. And we don't trust ourselves to rein ourselves in. There are plenty of times we decide to go slow only to get carried away. After the first two miles, our plan is assess our state and if possible, pick it up and average a couple of 11 m/m. Assess again and decide on a pace and so on for 13.1 miles.

My goals:

#3 - to finish
#2 - to finish without walking
#1 super duper, stars align, sacrifice a virgin goal - 2:30 time or under
